The judging for Kvarner Trophy 2026 took place on March 23, 2026, at Pršutana Gospoja in Vrbnik on the island of Krk. A total of 287 wine and spirit samples from six countries were submitted. The entries were evaluated by a panel of 30 certified judges from Croatia and abroad, led by renowned oenologist Dr. Ivana Puhelek. Wines and spirits were assessed using the internationally recognized 100-point scoring system, with detailed descriptions provided and an individual profile created for each sample. In total, 16 diamond medals, 111 gold medals, 102 silver medals, 33 bronze medals, and 7 honorary recognitions were awarded.

Kvarner Trophy is the first competition in Croatia where, alongside numerical scores, wines are evaluated using both qualitative and quantitative assessment methods. Every sample received a detailed wine profile created using the internationally recognized Wine Compass evaluation system, endorsed by the global organization Vinofed. Each wine and spirit also has a publicly available web profile at: https://kvarnertrophy.winecompass.eu/

Malvasia 2025 was awarded a gold medal with 92.75 points, while Teran 2025 received a silver medal with 87.75 points.

These results reflect the dedication, expertise, and passion invested in every bottle. Participation in Kvarner Trophy 2026 marks an important milestone for Matiška Wines and serves as strong motivation for further growth and quality improvement.
The gold medal for Malvasia 2025 places it among the top wines in its category, while the silver medal for Teran 2025 confirms both consistency and strong potential in red wine production. The value of these awards is further enhanced by the fact that the wines were judged according to high international standards, including detailed sensory analysis and the creation of professional profiles.

This first appearance at such a prestigious international competition is undoubtedly just the beginning of a promising journey. With these results, Matiška Wines not only confirm their quality but also proudly represent their region on the Croatian and international wine scene.

With optimism and strong motivation, we continue our work with the goal of creating wines that will earn recognition and delight wine lovers in the years to come.
